Casola Very Happy With Strong 14th Place Effort in Pocono 200
LONG POND PA (6-11-07)--The 14th place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Pocono 200 at Pocono Raceway this past Saturday was the best effort of young Dominick Casola's ARCA career.
The former Wall Township, NJ racer has four top-20 finishes in a row and sits in the top 20 in the ARCA RE/MAX point standings.
"Andy Belmont and the crew gave me a great car," said the ARCA rookie racer. "To be able to bring the car home on the lead lap and finish ahead of some well financed and very talented racers really made all of us on the A.Casola Farms team feel good."
Casola, making his eighth career start in ARCA competition, started in 23rd spot in a field of 41 starters. He qualified on the two and one-half mile triangular track with a 57.547 second run with a speed of 156.394 mph.
"Pocono is a very unique track with three distinctively different corners," said Casola. "It is a tough track but I am very excited about our first lead lap finish. The crew did a fantastic job of keeping the Andy Belmont Ford in contention."
Casola felt the team learned a great deal and that will come in very useful when the A.Casola Farms team returns to Pocono Raceway for a second time in August.
"We were happy with what we did this time," Dominick said. " We had some people interested in sponsorship watching today so it was good that we performed well. I think it will make us perform even better in August when we are back here. It would be great to be able to get a strong top ten finish."
Casola now heads to Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn, Michigan) for the ARCA RE/MAX 200 set for Friday, June 15th. This will mark the 26th appearance for the ARCA Series at Michigan.
The race will be aired live on SPEED at 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday.
"I hear that Michigan is a wide track that has forgiving multiple grooves," said Casola. "It is said to be very smooth and fast. I like fast tracks and I just know that Andy Belmont and the crew will have a great Ford set up for me. I am looking forward to the Michigan race."
