UP CLOSE & PERSONAL WITH DOMINICK CASOLA:
WHAT SPECIFIC GOALS DO YOU NEED TO PRODUCE
WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR FOR YOUR RACING PROJECT TO BE SUCCESSFUL?
I need to race in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
It’s a great series. I need to get more comfortable in the cars and while
surrounding myself with a supportive team to make any new sponsor a great
home.
WHAT ARE YOUR AUTO RACING GOALS FOR THE NEXT
FIVE YEARS?
2008- Win several times, earn
poles, and Run for a championship in the ARCA RE/MAX Series while also
developing my driving career further by competing in the NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series or NASCAR Nationwide Series.
2009 – I would like to see myself
progress into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series or Busch Series full time
and begin to make a good and respectable name for myself.
2010 – I would hope to be competing
in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in a driver development program.
WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL IN RACING?
My ultimate goal in racing would be to have
a career in one of NASCAR’S top three divisions (Truck, Busch or Nextel
Cup), and to gain as much experience and knowledge about race cars and
driving them as I possibly can. My goal is to do the very best that I
can and know that I gave it my all. I also want to have fun along the
way and enjoy the fact that I get to do this for a living. If I
accomplish these things as well as keep a very optimistic attitude, results
will come.
WHAT ARE YOUR MAJOR CONCERNS REGARDING YOUR
RACING CAREER?
My major concerns regarding my racing career
are simple; I am concerned how I can improve, learn, or get faster in any
type of racecar that I am driving, and to do my very best.
WHAT HAVE BEEN THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER
(Wins, Championships, Awards)?
There have been many highlights in my
career thus far. I won my first Bandolero race at WTS in 2003,
along with two more victories and the New Jersey INEX Bandolero car
points. I won the 2004 Turkey Derby at Wall Township Speedway in
the truck class.
This made me the youngest Turkey Derby
winner in the history of NJ in a full size race car (17). In 2005
I raced in the Truck division at Wall, and at 17, was the youngest
driver in New Jersey history to race full time in a division.
I won a division leading 5 races that
season along with the Truck Class Championship, and Rookie-of-the-Year.
So far, I have had the opportunity to compete or drive in 15 different
types of race cars. I raced in the Hooter Pro Cup series in 2006,
running up front in many of the races.
I had the opportunity to race at
Bristol Motor Speedway in 2006 Hooters which was amazing, and running at
many famous short tracks all across the country. Gaining respect and
above all, knowledge of the sport.
Testing an ARCA car at Talladega
Superspeedway running laps at 184 MPH, and last but not least,
qualifying my way into the race at my very first ARCA start at USA
International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida. I Gained valuable seat time
and experience and had a good finish.
WHAT HAVE BEEN THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR BUSINESS
CAREER AND LIFE”S ACHIEVEMENTS?
The highlights of my
life and achievements have been to have raced at many great race tracks against
many great drivers in many different racing series, making many great friends
and meeting lots of great people. Also gaining experience in cars and lots
of racing situations, but most of all I am the luckiest to have such supportive
people surround me and such a great family that does anything possible to give
me great opportunities.

PLEASE PROVIDE A LITTLE PERSONAL
INFORMATION-HOBBIES? OTHER INTERESTS BESIDE AUTO RACING? FAMILY? EDUCATION? WHAT
MAGAZINES DO YOU READ? WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
I am the oldest of 5
children, I have twin brothers Joseph and Christopher age 17, a brother Julian
age 13, and a sister Nina age 9. My parents Kim and Tony are great and we are
all very close, and are also close with our extended family of cousins, aunts,
uncles, and grandparents. I grew up on my parent’s farm, and developed an
early obsession for ‘things that go’ I guess from driving tractors.
I graduated from Red
Bank Catholic High School in 2006. I always had a hard time paying attention in
school as I was always thinking about racing, drawing pictures of race cars etc.
Fortunately, I got along well with most of my teachers!
I read any and all
racing magazines- Speedway Illustrated, Late Model racer, NASCAR Illustrated and
whatever else is on the shelf. I also read all books about racing.
The last books I read are ‘Cheating”, ‘The Biography of Tim Richmond”, and ‘The
Biography of Darrell Waltrip”. I also Like to read the news.
Of course my hobbies are racing, collecting
lots of racing memorabilia with a concentration of Rusty Wallace stuff. riding
ATV’s, Skeet shooting, and playing racing video games. I also enjoy
spending time with my family, staying fit and healthy, and being in the
outdoors.
In 2007, Dominick teamed up with famed ARCA team owner Andy Belmont to drive his
#1 Ford Fusion. Over the course of the 22 races Dominick entered, he
racked up 2 top 5, 3 top 10's and a strong 13th place finish in the overall ARCA
RE/MAX Series Driver's Points. In 2008, Dominick hopes to reach the top 10
in points and break into victory lane.
