Acrosonic Baldwin upright piano? Is this a good brand of piano?

Hi all...I've been trying really hard to find a good piano to buy, but I'm really new to pianos so I'm not all that sure what's good and what's not.

So far I've found one, what the lady calls an "Acrosonic Baldwin" (upright). I haven't seen it yet, but I'm supposed to this Saturday. So I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not this is a good piano brand? Is it worth $700?

I was also wondering...what makes an Acrosonic Baldwin...Acrosonic? What does that even mean? Thanks, all!! ^-^

The acrosonic baldwin is not as good as a normal upright Baldwin (spinets do not have as much sound as a full upright). Even so, $700 is kind of cheap. That probably means she hasn't had it maintenanced regularly. Go take a look at it and play it. If this lady is serious about selling her piano, she will have had it tuned first and have the receipt with all the notes from the piano tuner. If she doesn't, but you like the piano, it might be a good idea to have a piano tuner come take a look at it. It will cost you, but it's worth it. There could be damage you don't know about, like damage to the felts from mice, especially if she's had it stored. I was looking for a piano a few years ago, and had my piano tuner assess them, and that was one of the problems with a particular piano I was looking into.

Anyway, Baldwin is definitely one of the best brands of piano. The acrosonic is a step below, basically just an average piano, but it will probably have a good touch which to me is almost as important if not as important as tone.
